MEET THE FOUNDER
HOLLY
Hi, I’m Holly.
I’m a mom of three, and breastfeeding has been a huge part of my motherhood journey. I breastfed my first two for over two years each, and I’m currently nursing my 15-month-old.
When my first was born back in 2016, I went into motherhood determined to breastfeed for at least two years. What I didn’t expect was how something so natural could feel so Unnatural. I had taken a breastfeeding class, but thankfully I had a lactation consultant who came to my home—that was a game changer.
As a crunchy-ish mom who loves to cook and bake, I was excited when I discovered that “lactation cookies” were a thing. I started making healthier versions in my kitchen, both for myself and for my new-mom friends. I definitely noticed a small boost in my supply, which was especially helpful because at the time I was also pumping for a local mom who couldn’t breastfeed.
But while breastfeeding eventually felt smooth, my postpartum experience did not. I was eating cold, dry foods that left me constipated, depleted, and just not feeling like myself. Then I stumbled upon The First Forty Days by Heng Ou and learned the power of warm, soft, nourishing foods—soups, stews, broths—rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurveda, and ancestral wisdom.
So when I became pregnant with my daughter Blaire, I committed to doing things differently. I filled my freezer with 60 homemade meals inspired by Chinese medicine, Ayurveda, and Nourishing Traditions by Weston A. Price. The difference was unbelievable.
Every meal made me feel supported, grounded, and cared for—like I was being wrapped in a warm hug. My postpartum recovery felt easier, smoother, and far more peaceful… even with a toddler in tow. And for the first time, ZERO constipation.
In 2021, we launched Restorative Roots, our postpartum meal delivery company, built on these same healing principles. Alongside the meals, I offered the lactation treat mixes I’d been making for years and they quickly took on their own following, so we decided to give them their own home.
Welcome to Milk Market, a brand created from my kitchen, my motherhood journey, and my heart.
Milk Market exists to nourish breastfeeding moms with premium, organic, pantry mixes you can bake and enjoy at home. You deserve nourishing treats while nourishing your baby.
MEET
OUR FAMILY
Growing up Eric and I were chronically sick. Eric, our CEO (aka Chief Papa) dealt with headaches, ear infections, horrible allergies, and more, and I struggled with seemingly constant gut issues. Doctors visits were the norm, and the answer always seemed to be another pill.
When we met back in 2011 we watched the documentary Food Inc which really opened our eyes to the food system.
We started trading junk food and nights out at the bar for organic food and nights in watching food documentaries and drinking kombucha. Our physical and mental health underwent radical changes, and we felt called to help others take control of their health.
Eric published books on nutrition and cooking while I started blogging about organic food and non-toxic living. I started making our own soaps, toothpaste and cleaning products, and we slowly adopted a less-wasteful lifestyle.
Today we live in Orange County, practice respectful parenting, eat organ meat, go to the beach, have friends over for ice baths, homeschool, exercise, and of course love helping others!
